NO we don't sell part worn tyres
WHY NOT?
In our current economic climate many motorists are opting to choose part-worn tyres in an effort to keep their costs down. Many don't realise that this is often false economy.
You could probably buy a part-worn tyre, fully fitted, for £25. Seem like a bargain? That tyre may only have 3mm of tread depth left, giving you only 1.4mm of useable tread depth. How long will it be before you have to replace that tyre?
A brand new budget tyre could cost far less than £60, with a tread depth of 8mm. That's a useable tread depth of 6.4mm.
To get the same useable tread depth as a brand new tyre you'd have to replace your part-worn tyre five times, costing you a total of £125. Still seem like a bargain?
The legal minimum tyre tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm, most motoring organisations recommend changing at 2mm, while the tyre manufacturers recommend changing at 3mm. The majority of part-worn tyres are sold with a tread depth of 3mm.
According to tests carried out by MIRA (Motor Industry Research Association) at 50 mile an hour, in wet conditions, worn tyres add two car lengths to your overall stopping distance.
You won't always know the history of a part-worn tyre.
Some tyres are imported in bulk from foreign countries.
Some are even removed from cars that have been written off in accidents.
Damage to tyres often goes unnoticed. Tyres damaged by impact can have unstable stress points leading to blowouts.
Tyres have a shelf life and will perish over time. How old is a part-worn tyre before it even goes on your car?
In effect, when you buy a part-worn tyre you're buying someone else's rubbish.
Consider your safety, and that of your passengers and other road users.
